I am so excited to share The Vintage Pearl with you! Not only are they a current blog sponsor, they sent me a gorgeous necklace, and are offering a giveaway to my readers! First, here is my awesome necklace… IMG_4228

I chose the Circle of Love, with the names of my 3 children on it. I also added a pearl in the middle. I chose the whimsy font and a 16” chain. This is one of the first “girly” necklaces I have had in a long time so I am totally in love with it!!!! I am not sure I will wear anything else now! I am SO happy with this necklace and have already received many comments about it.

Here are several more options The Vintage Pearl offers, aren’t they wonderful? I had SUCH a hard time choosing which necklace I wanted, it took me days!!!

Easy Lunchboxes ~ GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Winner #81-Lauren! Congratulations!

image

We were recently sent a set of Easy Lunchboxes along with a cooler to review. I am about to admit how truly dorky I am. I was probably more excited for these to arrive in the mail than I have been for any other item we have had sent to us for a review!!!!! Yup, I LOVE containers and I knew if these ended up being half as great in person as they appeared online, I was in for a plastic container state of bliss.

They arrived and I tore into the box to find my plastic slice of heaven. They ARE better in person! I honestly had 2 main concerns that I knew I would have to figure out when they actually arrived…

  1. How easy the lids came off, and if they sealed enough for my liking without being too tight or too loose. They are PERFECT, seriously. Somehow they stay on, but yet the kids can open them alone.
  2. The quality of the plastic itself. I have used both Tupperware and also Ziploc…and I don’t love either. Tupperware tends to be a bit too tough for my liking, and the lids are often too tight and secure for me. Ziploc {and other cheaper brands} are too flimsy and don’t cut it for me either. Easy Lunchboxes are the perfect middle ground, Honestly I was shocked, they are much sturdier than Ziploc-ish containers, but the lids are still able to be removed easily.

Within hours of their arrival, they were neatly stacked in my fridge like this…IMG_3418…all ready for the next day. I also decided to color coordinate the boys’ juice cups {they only get 1 per day} and pre-fill those too. The container under the juice cups is the morning snack, and to the left are the boys’ water bottles.

Lunch the next day was a dream {and each day since then}. I pulled out the boxes and handed them out. It was wonderful.IMG_3514

After lunch, what wasn’t eaten, got left in the Easy Lunchbox and put right back into the fridge to be eaten before afternoon snack!!!! This was a feature I hadn't thought of! It makes lunch easily re-storable for those little sweethearts who don’t eat all of their healthy food only to beg for snacks later. We don’t offer our children alternative meals, and if they don’t eat what is served, they are either done for the day {if it is dinner} or if it can be saved, it will be saved for the next time they are hungry. Easy Lunchboxes make this plan work beautifully!!!!

The boxes that were emptied went into the sink, and that was the ONLY mess I had to worry about! I didn’t have to clean up the entire kitchen after preparing lunch in the middle of our homeschooling day. Nor did I need to stop early to begin preparing lunch!!!! Doing the prep work at night saved me tons of stress!!!

I LOVE these things!!!!!! I highly recommend them to all of you…both for home use and for traveling use. Whether you homeschool or pack your child’s lunch for “going” school…they are perfect!

FDA approved. No BPA, phthalates, lead, vinyl, or PVC. Safe for dishwasher, freezer, and microwave.

Girl’s Life Application Study Bible ~ Review

I was sent an awesome new Bible to review from Tyndale House, the NLT Girls Life Application Study Bible. I was so excited to see this Bible in real life and was even more impressed than I thought I would be when I opened it! it is simply gorgeous and perfect for a girl.

imageThe Bible is a regular size, with a soft leather cover, and the Bible inside is, THE BIBLE…not much to review there!!! It is the NLT ~ which is not a translation we use often, we are mostly NIV folks around here. I read through several parts of the Bible and it didn’t bother me at all that it wasn’t my normal NIV.

The Life Application portion of the Bible is great, with many different stories and notes focused around preteen girls. It also has several key features that make it unique…

  • “What Now?” Learn how to make good choices in tough times
  • “I Survived!” Personal survival stories from older teens about how they made it
  • “Amazing Facts” Bible trivia
  • “At a Glance”—the lives of famous women in the Bible—good and bad—become lessons for teens
  • “Is It OK?” A reality check on what the Bible says about the questions that are really on your mind
  • 2-color interior; 16 pages of full-color illustrations about Bible times
  • Book introductions and timelines
  • Charts and 3-dimensional maps
  • Unique colored pattern on outside of page edges

I am saving this Bible to be Ladybug’s first Big Girl Bible ;-). It is already hers, but she just doesn’t know it yet! We are grateful to Tyndale House for sending us this awesome Bible to review! You can purchase this Bible here on CBD!

Letter of the Week ~ Giveaway! CLOSED

Congratulations #360 Debbie, YOU WIN!!!!!

{chose via random.org}

I am honored to share my good bloggy-friend- Erica’s Letter of the Week Curriculum with you!

image

Most of you probably already know Erica, her blog- Confessions of a Homeschooler, is hard to miss because it is simply amazing! If you haven’t been there, go now! Erica is the one who taught me how to put the fancy navigation drop down menu bar on my blog and I am so grateful, it is probably the most useful thing I have ever added to my blog! She is also a Totally Tots team member, managing our Crafty Corner feature for us.

Erica has generously offered to give away her set of Letter of the Week printables in either download or cd format! She graciously offers them for free on her blog too, but as a package download for a fee…I think this idea is brilliant. It allows those who can’t afford to pay the $ the option of downloading the pieces one by one, but also gives those of you who can afford $10 a way to support her efforts financially while also getting the printables as a simple package.

As I well know, a LOT of time goes into into not only creating the printables, but also sharing them. Converting them, uploading them, and presenting them often takes more work than creating some of them! The amount of work that has gone into her printables is unreal! Erica does this generously not only for her Letter of the Week, but also for many other printables she makes.

We use her Letter of the Week printables on a regular basis, here’s a few action shots of Krash enjoying Erica’s work…

K is for Kite

image imageimage

You can find all of her printables on her site [which is so easy to navigate using her top bar and sidebar box}. If you can afford to purchase her package, I highly recommend it, even just as a way to say THANKS to her and to give her some financial encouragement as she shares so freely with all of us. Plus, it gives you the ability to have all of the printables at your fingertips after you download them all at once.

One of you is going to win the Letter of the Week Curriculum!

To enter, leave a comment here telling me who you would use this curriculum for!

After you do that, you can gain some extra entries by any of the following, remember to leave an extra comment for each item so they will count as entries...

  1. If you Follow/Subscribe to 1+1+1=1 give yourself an extra entry.
  2. If you Follow/Subscribe to Confessions of a Homeschooler, give yourself an extra entry.
  3. If you Follow/Subscribe to Totally Tots, give yourself an extra entry.
  4. If you would post about your win on your blog, give yourself an extra entry.

This Giveaway is open for anyone, although if you want the cd format it is for US shipping only.

I will select a winner using Random.org, so be sure you leave a separate comment for each entry, I will also be moderating comments to check that your entries are valid-please be honest!

Contest ENDS May 9, 2010. Winner will be announced here, and emailed (your email MUST be in each comment/or enabled in blogger). Winner must reply to my email within 48 hours or another winner will be chosen.

100 Days in the USA ~ Giveaway! CLOSED

Updated-Congratulations Laura #21-you won!

Photobucket

Way back when we had our 1000 Subscribers Celebration, I was sent 2 awesome games from Out of the Box . The first one, Backseat Drawing-I reviewed here {we still love it}. The next one, 10 Days in the USA-I saved until now as Pac Man is a bit older and it is more of an advanced game.

You can read the rules of this unique game here, and some modifications for younger kids here. This is a game that I will need to play with Pac Man for quite awhile, and we have yet to get Dad involved but I am sure he will whoop us all.

This game takes tons of focus and strategic thinking, even my brain was tired {in a good way}. It is recommended for ages 10 and up, Pac Man is almost 8. We just played it in a modified way and worked togetherer and it was awesome. I could really see his brain working as he explored the different ways to create a travel plan that would work for him.IMG_1120

It is an awesome game, the board alone is wonderful as a teaching tool itself even without the game! You could easily just use the board and cards to find the states! In our version of play this day, Pac man won the game!

Here’s the view of how Pac Man won {and yes, the cat helped a ton}…

Start in Texas, walk to LA {since it borders TX}, fly to GA {since they’re both blue}, drive to MO{since they share a bordering state}, walk to IA, drive to ND, walk to MT.IMG_1127

They also have different versions of this game, {Europe, Asia, Africa}, and so many other great learning games on their site, we love Apples to Apples also!

Would you like to win 10 Days in the USA???

Mandatory Entry…

Visit Out of the Box Games and tell me one other game that you like after you browse around their site a bit. Leave the name of the game in your 1st comment!

After you do that, you can gain some extra entries by any of the following, remember to leave an extra comment for each item so they will count as entries...

  3. Become a fan of OTB on Facebook
  4. If you will take a photo of your kid(s) playing this game and post about it and Out of the Box Games on your blog if you are the winner, give yourself an extra entry!!! (an honor thing)

This Giveaway is open for USA only.
