What is a Strider Running Bike?
*words in italics are taken from the Strider site.
The Strider™ running bike is free from any cables, chains, sprockets, pedals or protrusions that can harm your child.
And the Strider™ is steady, stable and safe. At the first feeling of instability, your child will instinctively place both feet securely on the ground. So there are no "tricycle tip-overs" or "training-wheel wobbles" that stir-up a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding.
The Strider’s lightweight design and low center of gravity make it easy to maneuver and control, giving your child a safe and secure feeling. And the bike’s adjustable seat height starts at 11 inches from the ground, accommodating the shortest of legs.
Control is further enhanced with a low and flat handlebar design. Kids can now reach forward rather than up, which gives them better leverage and maneuverability. And as the your child becomes more confident, the Strider’s integrated foot rests provide a place for both feet while coasting along.
This is the absolute perfect bike for a young child. The age recommendation is: 1-5, and Krash is 3 1/2 so it was just perfect. Now owning it, I can see where it would have been wonderful to have long before now! I look forward to letting Ladybug start riding it much earlier than K did. Here you can read the advantages of a Strider Running Bike on their site, in case you are unfamiliar with these awesome bikes. We live in the inner city, so we ride bikes in weird places. Here's Krash in action on our deck, which he loves, and rides around in circles for hours!
Krash had a bit of trouble for the first day, as he realized he actually had to learn to balance. He enjoyed the challenge and was so proud of himself the first time he was able to glide with his feet up. It was giggles and smiles galore as he proudly displayed his new talent!
My favorite things about this bike:
- Lightweight~ I was shocked with how light it was
- Smooth and safe ~no rough edges (like pedals, chains)
- Reasonably Challenging ~ Krash had to learn how to balance, and I loved that it was a bit of a challenge for him, but one he could easily figure out quickly and feel a sense of accomplishment!
- Looks Cool ~ I love the dirt-bike look. It looks like a real big kid bike!
- Awesome Color ~ We love orange (and they have tons of other cools colors too)
Anyone who has a young child should definitely put this on a Christmas list...or just buy one now if you can afford it! I promise you won't regret it. You can get your own, here on their site.

I thought it was interesting that he invented this by going to Kmart and buying a light small bike and then stripping it.
I watched the 2nd video. That showed the kids riding the bikes. They rode on dirt tracks, and at the park. I was impressed that Alex was able to get back on the bike himself after falling over.

I watched the video of the 27 month old riding the bike ~ wish I had known about these bikes when my older two were toddlers.
I learned that when the inventor, Ryan McFarland, was coming up with a design he stripped down a small bike he bought at K-mart.
Such a good idea!

I watched the Fun Family Walks and it totally sold me on getting a bike (actually, I watched all the videos : D )
I will definately post a picture of my son on the bike.

I love this story of how the bike came to be! We are having a tough time with teaching Cole to pedal his tricycle and he gets very frustrated. This seems like a great solution!
Wow! I watched the Advantages video, the 27-month-old and Big brother shows little brother videos! Now I am so flipping excited about this bike!!! I know Cole would LOVE this!!! And most importantly, be able to actually do it!

I would love to win this for my son, who is 2 1/2! He is the most adventurous child I know.
Just signed up for the newsletter.
I have never thought about how a tricycle, etc, train a child to peddle, NOT balance and how that should be the first tool a child learns.
I watched the video of the 27 month old riding his strider. What a cutie! I love that he was making motorcycle noises.
You better believe I'll post a picture of that bad boy! Shoot, I'll take one of both my kids (daughter just turned 2) on it. I'm sure they'd love it. Heck, I'd have to buy a second one so they could both play at the same time.
My son is 19 months and is obsessed with all things bike-related.
Joshua is 3 and would love this. I'm sure my 5 year old daughter would like to try it too.

My son Kyle (4 yrs. old) would love this. And his younger brother Owen (18 months) will take over gladly when he's done with it.
I've subscribed to the newsletter
I love that he didn't just accept the training wheel wobbles and tricycle tip-overs but went for something better. And it totally makes sense to learn balance before learning to pedal.
Watched the "27 month old on balance bike" It's great that he's free to put his feet down and work on balance because he's not pedaling.
I will definitely post a picture of my 4 year-old using it.
Sweet Pea is 29 months.
We will post a picture of Sweet Pea on the and a review of the bike if we win.
My 5 year old daughter would love this!!! She loves her bike and this would be great for her!

My almost 3-yr. old (next month) daughter would love a bike like this. I tell you, if I don't win it, I'm going to look into getting one for her. I love the concept.
You know I would blog and post pictures if I won. :) Even if I bought it I would blog and post pictures---lol!
I signed up for their emails.
Watched a video of the owner talking about the bikes. I cannot believe all the little kids doing course, going over obstacles (I better not show my dd or she'll think that's what she's suppose to do!) LOL! Love that it is made to improve balance. I can see how little kids can feel like they can ride a bike just like the big kids with this. (I always hated training wheels!)
Read about how the company was started. I like that he didn't plan on starting a company it just came from a need. Pretty cool that he had the right people in his life to partner with him---a patent attorney friend and his dad.
My Tater is the same age as Krash, and she would- LOVE THIS- and the orange matches her hair.

The bike came about as many products do- a parents fear for their child's safety. I too liked the Kmart story.

I watched the video of the 27 month old on the strider bike. Loved his sound effects. I have a near 2 year old in addition to the 3 year old, and I know they'd both love it!

I know my 3 year old would love to try this bike! And his baby brother would love to share it when he is old enough!
I read about their story and learned that a tricycle isn't necessarily the best "first bike"
I actually was so interested I watched a few of the videos:
Advantages of a Strider Running Bike, 27 mo on balance bike and Big brother shows strider running bike to little bro
I would love to win the bike and would definitely post a photo on our blog of him on it if we won!
SO COOL! My son is 2
Balance and Coordination should be learned before pedaling. Makes a lot of sense!
My husband and I both watched Advantages of a Strider Running bike.
We'd blog, photo and youtube about this baby!
I signed up for their newsletter.
My son is 3.5 and he did NOT want us to take the training wheels off his bike this summer. He has a younger brother (15 mo) who would also get lots of enjoyment out of it! Thank you!
If I win I WILL post a picture on my blog for all to see! All twelve of my readers. :)
I watched the family walk video. My boy would love to be able to do a wheely! And I think it's so nice that you can easily ride them through the grass. Thank you!
